Mini-Me
Dressing a baby girl is a lot of fun, and an excuse to do some guilt-free shopping every few months. But S has observed an interesting trend among 'moms' she meets.
Mothers dress their baby girls to match their own style.
Smart, preppy mothers - women who manage to apply make-up every day - tend to put their babies into party-standard outfits, with little collars, patent shoes and monogrammed dresses.
Scruffy/sporty mothers' babies wear T-shirts, baby denim, and little hoodies.
Retro/alternative mothers put their babies in handknitted woolly garments and organic hemp.
S too has bought A several outfits that are miniature versions of some of hers, and only recently realised it.
S feels this is an impulse to (a) be aware of, and (b) overcome once A starts to assert her own likes and dislikes.
But obviously not everyone agrees.
Another friend recently told us there's a big US market for matching family outfits - including the DOG. Check out:

Scary stuff.
