Wedding anniversary

L's christening coincides with our 8th wedding anniversary.

We decided to be organised about the latter, and have booked tickets to see a rave-review production of King Lear, at the utterly wonderful Shakespeare's Globe open-air theatre, on the banks of the Thames.

The theatre was recreated matching the exact specifications of Shakespeare's lifetime, making it an incredibly evocative and atmospheric venue.

Being able to just pop down the road to amazing productions like this, is one of the main reasons we are happy to put up with the grit and grime of London.

Anyway here is the original poster for the first production of King Lear at the Globe, in the early 1600s.

Very charmingly, the smaller paragraphs read:

'As it was played before the King's Majestie at Whitehall upon S. Stephan's night in Christmas Hollidayes. By his Majestie's servants playing usually at the Gloabe on the Bank-side'.
