Politically incorrect

A has acquired some new vocabulary recently.

Our boiler broke the other day. When the engineer turned up, he was sporting an impressive afro.

A followed him round, pointing and saying "Hat! Hat!"

S repressed the urge to lock A in a cupboard somewhere. As toddlers keep saying a word infinitely until you repeat it back, S was also forced to explain that it was not a hat, it was the gentleman's hair.

Fortunately the engineer was amused.

Then today in the lift at the Tube station, A pointed at a very distinguished looking Sikh gentleman with a turban. Would she now get it right and say 'Hat' in the correct context? No. A kept saying 'Beard! Beard!' until S had to confirm that yes the gentleman had a beard. This guy was NOT so amused.

But it's not as bad as that one time when A inexplicably pointed at a woman in the street and shouted 'Dog!' complete with imitation bark.
