Wassailing we will go

B, S and S's brother James went to the All Saints' Peckham candle-lit carol service last night.

As S was in the choir, she turned up for the 3pm rehearsal, only to find it had been postponed to 4pm.

B was already zooming back to Rotherhithe in the car, so S decided to explore Peckham a bit, and went for a runny-fried-egg-and-HP-sauce-white-bread sandwich at a local greasy spoon.

It was delicious. S made a mental note to eat unhealthily more often.

Upon returning to the church, S also discovered that the choir were supposed to be wearing red and black - oh well.... never mind.

Rehearsals began and were a lot of fun. The congregation started turning up from 6pm, and the church quickly filled to capacity.

The service just seemed to speed by. We sang all the traditional favourites, and finished up with a gospel version of O Come All Ye Faithful, before heading to the packed-out church hall for mulled wine and mince pies.

It was really great.
