Nanny wars

S has been interviewing potential babysitters/nannies to help her out a couple of mornings a week, for the first 3 months with the new baby.

This morning, she found a really lovely nanny - Lenka from Slovakia - who is available, has good experience, lives locally and will even iron B's shirts, and has consequently made her an offer...

..... but Lenka is already waiting to hear back from the results of an earlier job interview...... so S has to wait until the end of the week to find out whether she has been successful.

You can suddenly see why some mothers roam playgrounds like recruitment consultants, offering higher rates, suggesting they would be much nicer to work for, and aggressively poaching nannies off one another.

It's a dog-eat-dog world....
