Being a late booker...
One of the upshots of our move back to Britain has been that S has been automatically classified by NHS rules as a 'Late Booker' i.e. a high-risk pregnancy, because she didn't go see the doctor until a late stage.
This could mean S is not entitled to give birth at the lovely 'Home from Home' midwife birth centre at St Thomas' Hospital (which comes complete with enormous birthing pools, relaxation garden and 11 en-suite private rooms where husbands can stay the night) and would instead be obliged to deliver under the watchful eye of a consultant obstetrician (who would probably be furious at being given a blatantly low-risk patient).
S's community midwife has promised that she will sort all this out.
However, there has been one benefit of this high-risk classification in the meantime.
S has been offered an ultrasound appointment in Week 32 to check the baby's growth. Normally, you wouldn't get this and nobody seems to think we need to cancel it.
We will really look forward to a sneak peek of our new daughter on November 7th!
