Maternity schmaternity

Well, there is no denying the fact that at 17 weeks, S is now sporting a little baby bump and has put on, let's just say, a couple of pounds.

Older and wiser this time around, S has avoided the horrors of buying maternity clothes until absolutely necessary, having borrowed some from a nice friend, and squeezed into what the fashion industry tastefully describes as her 'Fourth Trimester' outfits.

BUT.... S is very aware that she will go straight from sweltering Boston summer heat, to London in late September.... a.k.a. freezing and rainy.....and she won't want to go battling down Oxford Street in her first week back.

So S has been intrepid and ordered some winter stuff in advance on the internet.

The thing is, you have to take maternity clothes photography with a LAAARGE pinch of salt.

They always pick super-skinny models with tiny thighs, no stretchmarks, no sticky-out tummy buttons, no weird fat blotchy faces, no crazy hair, no fat arms and strictly no fat water-retaining ankles.

Furthermore, they always say :

- order your pre-pregnancy size with confidence.
- rest assured our clothes will last you to 9 months - and beyond.

Right.

Anyway, this is what one of the outfits S has ordered looks like..... on the 6ft3 Scarlett Johansson look-a-like, who is, oh-so-realistically, wearing 4" stilettos.

It will be.... educational.... seeing what it looks like on S in flip-flops.
