Bad day, good day
Several years ago, a friend of ours told us that being at home with a baby is more extreme than working: bad days are worse.... but good days are better.
This has turned out to be true. For example, there is nothing quite so exhausting as being ill yourself, but being unable to rest and recover because you have to look after a sick child.
About a week ago, both S and A were both ill.
There were several Bad Days in a row, and S was thinking back to when she used to put on a nice suit and merrily commute in to work listening to her iPod and sipping a Starbucks.... dealing with some chief executive in a pickle and sticking him infront of the cameras for Channel 4 News, or pitching for new clients, seemed just fun in comparison.
Yesterday and today, however, have been Very Good days - the type when you are very happy that you are not stuck in some office somewhere.
It was 30'c yesterday, and 27'C today. The cherry tree in our garden blossomed.
We played in the garden; met some mothers and their baby daughters for A to play with in the park; went out for a walk while eating strawberry ice-creams...... and we have ordered a 6-foot paddling pool for future similar Very Good Days.

Definitely beats working hands-down.
