S went shopping today in the Cambridgeside Galleria 'mall' with A.

She was in the middle of trying on a blue top in Banana Republic when an astonishingly loud fire alarm went off.

After a bit of faffing and uncertainty, suddenly the staff started ordering a total evacuation of the mall.

Something really was on fire.

In a panic to get A out of the building, S took the executive decision not to waste any time changing the top, and marched straight out of the shop - setting off more alarms - still wearing it.

Once safely outside, with several hundred other people, two fire engines and an ambulance, it did not seem likely people would be going back in anytime soon, and A was getting cold and hungry.

So S walked home still wearing the contraband garment, and later wore it out to her birthday dinner with B on Charles Street, since it met with spousal approval.

Don't worry though. We are going to go back to Banana Republic tomorrow to pay for it.
