Back in Boston
Having stocked up on British essentials (Cadbury's chocolate, Twinings tea-bags, large jar Branston pickle, and M&S baby-grows) during our last day in the UK, we spent our last evening with B's family in Oxford. Our new baby nephew/niece is due in a week.
We had secretly hoped the new baby might arrive during our visit, but s/he evidently had other plans. Anyway it was quite a special evening.
We then returned to Andrew's (B's best man) and his new wife Bernadette's place.
Throughout our visit, they royally entertained A with all the unlimited energy and enthusiasm of those who know they can always hand a baby back. She loved it.
The next morning we arose at 5am, and drove to Heathrow.
This time, checking-in early appeared to pay off: A got a free seat on a sold-out plane.
We were smug.
At the last minute however, someone was allocated her seat (always a risk if you don't actually fork out), and appeared just before take-off, quite understandably wanting to sit in it.
Our hearts sank.
But a wonderful air hostess promptly upgraded the other customer to Business instead, at which point everyone around us gave her a round of applause.
People can be very kind when you travel with children.
Anyway here is A enjoying Casino Royale on her own personal TV.
After 14 hours straight travelling, we are very relieved to be back home.
We have finally put A to bed, and are enjoying a nice cup of tea with a piece of chocolate, topped with pickle.
