It's all in the name

S has joined the church choir.

They are pretty good, too, and she's joined as a soprano..... which means she has to mouth silently when they go above F#.

One of the other sopranos, on learning that S is from Wales, and that A has a Welsh name to prove it, said 'My daughter-in-law is Welsh too'.

'Really? When did she come over to America?'

'Well... she's not really... er.... her great-grandparents came over originally. She has a proper Welsh name though. Bryn.'

'But that's a MAN's name! It means mountain. You know, like that famous fat baritone, Bryn Terfel,' said S, at once realising this was not a tactful statement. Tooooo late.

To atone, she listed some REALLY ugly Welsh names genuinely intended for girls.

This didn't go down well either.... oh dear.
