Nannies and nightlife

Work-life balance is a difficult thing.

Everyone's is different, for starters.

But a lot of S's friends with babies miss their careers so much, they go back to work for nothing - or even for financial loss.

That's because nannies are so expensive.

S pays Kylie's net pay, then her tax, then her national insurance, then employer's national insurance on top. All of that has to come out of S's net pay. Ouch.

S is fortunate that there's a little bit left over.

We have been discussing what to do with it. One thing we have decided, is to get a regular weekly babysitter, so we can have a 'date' night out hopefully most weekends.

That will mean the odd jaunt into London Town to see shows and stuff.... but knowing us and our sophisticated tastes, it's far more likely to mean a burger and the latest blockbuster at our local UCI.
