A triple first
Today was a momentous day.
B went back to work after two lovely weeks of paternity leave. It's been lovely being all together as a family of four.
S had her first day at home with the two young ladies.
And, most wonderfully of all, Lenka The Slovakian Nanny showed up at 8am for her first day at work.
When B did not get out of bed at the appointed hour, S suspected he had forgotten it was Lenka's first day.
It was therefore quite amusing to see him scuttling into the bathroom wearing pyjamas and a startled expression when she did show up.
Anyway Lenka is very sweet. She had brought gifts - baby clothes for L, and a nice book for A.
As the day progressed, S couldn't get over how wonderful it felt to have someone to help her out in this way.
Lenka took superb charge of A, getting her breakfasted and dressed, and then whisking her out for much of the morning to let off some steam in a nearby playground - leaving S with the comparatively easy job of caring for L, plus the chance to catch up on sleep, or (bliss) just read a book or have a bath during L's mid-morning nap.
And it was just GREAT when Lenka very efficiently emptied the dishwasher, put in a load of laundry, did the washing-up and hoovered, all before her departure at 12.30.
Lenka is in high demand - she works 6 days a week for 3 different families - and you can see why.
It's just like having Julie Andrews in your house.
