Mother-and-daughter day out

While B languished in financial training in the office today, S and A had a splendid day out on the King's Road spending his earnings.

S & A took the Underground to Sloane Square, which was very easy, partially because people were very friendly and gave up their seats.

S plans to decorate the nursery for the arrival of the new baby with new curtains and nursery bedding, which is a fun project.

However, S has Zero experience in such matters, and went to the dressmaking department of Peter Jones by mistake instead of the home furnishings area, which resulted in a look of unspeakable contempt from the assistant.

However, once in the right department, S had a wonderful time looking at all the beautiful fabrics, getting quotes for things like pelmets and blinds, and ordering swatches for B's approval, while A dozed.

We then repaired to the 6th floor restaurant and ate a delicious lunch together, while enjoying the beautiful views over the city.

Lastly we headed to the nursery area, and bought A some escape-proof toddler sleeping bags before finishing off by buying a new pair of boots for S.

It was a glorious sunny autumn day, so to cap it all off, S decided to take a London black cab home.

She had heard that you can just push the stroller right in with all your bags and everything, which seemed too good to be true. But it WAS true!

It was just lovely zooming through London, watching A, who was sitting sideways, take in all the sights for the first time - Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, House of Commons, London Eye, Tower Bridge....

Like a very small Royal, she waved and smiled all the way home.
